Product FAQ's

Our cat litter is primarily made from sustainably sourced walnut shells. Walnut shells are an excellent natural alternative to traditional clay litters because they are biodegradable, super absorbent, and gentle on your cat’s paws.

On average, a cat uses around 3kg of clay cat litter per week. However, Nature’s Calling, made from natural walnut shells, offers superior absorbency and quick-clumping action while absorbing odours three times better than clay. As a result, you’ll likely to use less of our eco-friendly litter compared to a clay-based option —meaning it lasts longer and reduces waste.

Yes, our walnut shell cat litter is safe for cats. It is free from chemicals, fragrances, additives, toxins and silicas making it a healthier choice for your feline friend. The natural absorbency of walnut shells also helps to control odours effectively.

The most common nut allergies are triggered by ingesting nut proteins, so if this is your type of allergy, there is little cause for concern, as Nature’s Calling Cat Litter is not intended for human or pet consumption. However, it is highly recommended to wash your hands after handling any cat litter, as contact with cat urine or faecal matter can pose health risks. For those at risk of anaphylaxis—a rare but serious allergic reaction caused by airborne particles—we strongly advise against using our cat litter to ensure your safety.

Walnut shells are highly absorbent and can lock in odours for extended periods. Their natural properties make them effective at managing liquid and reducing ammonia smells, keeping your cat litter tray fresher for longer.

Our walnut shell cat litter is designed to be low-dust, which is better for both your cat’s respiratory health and your home environment. It reduces the amount of litter dust that can be tracked around the house or inhaled by your cat.

Add 4cm of Nature’s Calling Cat Litter to a clean litter tray, then top it up with 2–3cm of your current cat litter to cover it. With each litter change, gradually reduce the amount of your existing litter. Most cats adjust comfortably to the new litter within one or two changes.

Sustainability FAQ's

Our walnut shell cat litter is more sustainable for several reasons:
Renewable Material: Walnut shells are a byproduct of the walnut industry, which means it is 100% renewable resource.
Biodegradable: Unlike clay, which can take thousands of years to decompose, walnut shell litter is biodegradable and can be composted.
Low Carbon Footprint: Produced in a factory powered by 100% solar energy, significantly reduces its carbon Footprint compared to clay litter production, which often relies on non-renewable energy sources.

Products in a facility powered by 100% solar energy, means that the production process has a minimal impact on the environment. Solar power is a clean, renewable source of energy that reduces reliance on fossil fuels and lowers greenhouse gas emissions.

Our new packaging is made with 30% recycled content, reducing the need for virgin plastics and supporting environmental sustainability. The packaging falls under the “Other 7” classification, so we encourage consumers to check with local authorities regarding its recyclability. We remain committed to collaborating with packaging manufacturers to increase the percentage of recycled materials in our products.

The Cosmos Certificate is an assurance that our product is made from 100% renewable resources. It’s a globally recognised standard for natural raw ingredient products, ensuring that our cat litter meets strict ecological and sustainability criteria.

We recommend disposing of it in the compost or general household bin, however please check with your local authorities. Composting walnut shell litter allows it to break down naturally and return to the earth without causing harm to the environment.

We encourage responsible disposal by either composting the used walnut shell litter or disposing of it in your general house hold bin. Composting is the preferred method as it allows the litter to return to the earth without contributing to landfill waste, however please check with your local authorities.
